Tips For Running a Live Conference Quiz
Live quizzes are a fun and effective way to get people involved at conferences. They turn a passive audience into an active one, making the event more exciting and interactive. If you are planning to host a quiz game at a conference, follow these tips to make your live quiz interesting:

Tips for a Successful Live Quiz
1. Give participants ample time to join
Show a quiz poster with a QR code as early as possible and give your audience enough time to scan it and join. You will see participants appearing live on the poster screen; start the game when you think the majority has joined. Participants can still join the quiz after it starts.
2. Schedule the game ahead
On paid plans, you can schedule the game in advance and set a custom code for it. You can also download a QR code or game link and include it in conference materials.
3. Check the conference WiFi
Ensure participants can easily connect to the WiFi. Some venues may struggle to provide sufficient bandwidth for large audiences. If issues arise, encourage participants to use mobile data instead.
4. Plan the timing
Keep the quiz short (10–15 minutes) to maintain attention. For longer talks, create multiple short quizzes to give your audience a chance to relax and stay engaged.
5. Mix difficulty levels
Include a range of easy, medium, and challenging questions to ensure everyone can participate and enjoy.
6. Rotate question types
Mix formats like multiple choice, true/false, and picture-based questions to keep the quiz dynamic.
7. Explain the rules clearly
Start by explaining how the quiz works, including how to join and answer, and score points. Clarify any rules about time limits or team participation.
8. Keep the pace up
Don't let the quiz drag on. Move quickly between questions to keep the audience engaged. By default, quiz questions will auto-evaluate as soon as everyone has answered, which is perfect for smaller groups of participants. For large audiences, evaluate the questions manually after participants have been given enough time to answer.
9. Interact with the audience
Make comments about answers or leaderboards to keep the audience involved.
10. Announce leaderboard updates
Regularly show the leaderboard to build anticipation and keep participants motivated.
11. Have a tie-breaker plan
Prepare an exciting or unusual tie-breaker question in advance to handle close results.
12. Use creative categories
Award prizes for more than just the top scorer. For example, give prizes for the funniest answer or most enthusiastic participant. You can also include a random prize draw to keep things interesting till the end.
13. Send a link to the quiz
Share the quiz link or a printed version of the quiz for those unable to join live.
